Australia will take on their oldest rival, England, in a one-off T20 International at Optus Stadium on Sunday, October 9.

The standalone match in the Dettol Men's T20I Series will see Australia play England in just the second T20 International to be played at Optus Stadium.

The match shapes as important preperation for both sides ahead of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup which gets underway in late October.

Previously scheduled to be played at the Gabba in Brisbane, the match has been relocated to Perth's Optus Stadium after Australia's One Day International series against South Africa was cancelled.

Australia was due to host the Proteas at Optus Stadium in game three of the Dettol ODI Series in January, 2023 but with South Africa withdrawing from the series, Cricket Australia has replaced the fixture with the one-off T20I.

Both Australia and England play ICC Men's T20 World Cup group matches at Optus Stadium during the tournament, meaning the match on October 9 will give both nations the chance to get used to the conditions at Optus Stadium.

The match is the first cricket fixture of any sort to be played this early in the calendar year at Optus Stadium.
