International Music Superstar to perform at Perth Stadium

Frontier Touring has confirmed international superstar Ed Sheeran will kick-off the Australian and New Zealand legs of his ÷ World Tour at the new Perth Stadium on Saturday 3 March 2018.

  • First concert announced for Perth Stadium;
  • Two-time Grammy Award winner Ed Sheeran will bring ÷ World Tour to Perth Stadium on Saturday 3 March 2018;
  • Pre-sale via www.frontiertouring.com/edsheeran from Tuesday 16 May 2017;
  • General public on sale Tuesday 23 May at 3pm (WST).

In a massive coup for the multi-purpose Stadium, Ed Sheeran will join a feast of international sporting events already confirmed for this world-class venue.  Alongside AFL and cricket, Perth Stadium will host Chelsea Football Club versus Perth Glory in 2018 plus State of Origin II and the Bledisloe Cup in 2019 with more world-class events to be announced soon, including the opening event.

Over 55,000 Sheeran fans will be able to enjoy an unparalleled experience at Perth Stadium.  With the stage located at the Swan River end, fans will have the choice of standing on the Stadium playing surface or in permanent seats around the Stadium.  Every seat will offer outstanding views of the stage and all tickets will include public transport to and from Perth Stadium.

Head of Frontier Touring, Michael Gudinksi said he was thrilled to welcome Ed Sheeran back to Perth.

“Ed Sheeran is without doubt one of the hottest artists in the world right now, and it’s fitting that he is the first artist to be announced to perform at Perth Stadium.  Ed is bringing his full stadium production with him and is excited to open the Australian leg of the ÷ (divide) tour in this world class stadium.”

Ed Sheeran needs no introduction to Perth, having played to a sell-out crowd at nib Stadium in 2015 for this ÷ (pronounced ‘divide’) World Tour.  Touring in celebration of his record-breaking and chart-topping third studio album ÷, Sheeran will perform completely unaccompanied, joined on stage by just a guitar and effect pedals.

The ÷ World Tour has already played through Europe and the United Kingdom to rave reviews and it will visit Latin and North America before heading to Australia and New Zealand.

Perth Stadium is currently over 82 per cent complete and on schedule to open in early 2018.
